Conditions for applying for a skilled Australian visa
To apply for a skilled Australian visa, you need to meet the following conditions:
- Under 45 years old.
- Reach the required professional level.
- Meet the English language proficiency as prescribed by the Australian Department of Immigration.
- The occupation you choose must be on the list of occupations allowed by the Australian government to settle.
- Pass the occupational skills assessment of the Occupational Assessment Agency.
- Meet the health and criminal record requirements of the Australian Government.
INNOVATIONS IN AUSTRALIA'S SKILLED MIGRATION POLICY
Innovation in age and duration of residence:
- Age: at the time of application, you must be under 45 years old instead of 50 years old as before.
- Length of residence: the transition period from temporary to permanent residence will be extended for at least 3 years.
Professional innovation and salary:
- Work experience: you need to have at least 3 years of work experience to switch from temporary to permanent residence. This job must be related to the nominated occupation before the time of application.
- Salary: employees will be paid according to current labor market standards.
- Professional training: businesses sponsoring employees under the ENS/RSMS need to contribute money to the Skilling Australians Fund.

✿ SKILLED TEMPORARY RESIDENCE VISA
Visa 485 – graduate visa
The Temporary Graduate visa 485 is a temporary visa for international students who have completed at least two years of study in Australia. The duration of the visa can be from 18 months to 4 years depending on the specific case. The 485 Graduate Visa has the following types:
• Post Study Work Stream: this visa is for international students who have just graduated with a degree (at least Bachelor's or higher) from an Australian educational institution. With this visa, you can temporarily live, work and study in Australia for 2 to 4 years.
• The Graduate Work Stream: this visa is for international students who have just graduated with skills and qualifications relevant to specific career needs in Australia. This visa allows you to temporarily live, study and work in Australia for 18 months.
Visa 476 – technical skills visa
The Skilled Recognized Graduate visa is a visa that allows engineering graduates to travel, study and work in Australia for 18 months. To apply for a 476 visa, you must meet the following basic conditions:
• Under 31 years old.
• No visa 476 and visa 485 yet.
• Meet English language, health and criminal background requirements.

Visa 189 – Skilled Independent Visa
The Skilled Independent visa 189 (The Skilled Independent visa) is a visa that allows highly skilled workers to permanently reside and work in Australia through the migration points scale. This visa does not require family member or state government sponsorship. The following are the basic conditions of the 189 visa:
• Age 18 to 44.
• Occupations on the Medium and Long term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).

Visa 190 – Skilled Visa Sponsorship
The Skilled Nominated visa is a visa that allows skilled workers to live and work in Australia as a permanent resident. With this visa, workers must be nominated by the Australian State / Territory Government and achieve the required migration points. Visa 190 has the following main conditions that you need to be aware of:
• From 18 to 44 years old.
• Occupation in accordance with the list of occupations under the provisions of visa 190.
• Pass the skills assessment.
• Migration score of 65 points.
• Meet English proficiency requirements.
• Ensure good health and criminal record.
✿ Regional Skilled Visa
Visa 887 – regional skilled visa
The Skilled Regional Visa 887 is a permanent Australian skilled visa for people who have lived and worked in a designated area for a specified period of time. Visa 887 has the following basic conditions:
• Live in a designated area of Australia for at least 2 years.
• Work full time in the designated area for at least 1 year.
Visa 491 – Regional Skilled Visa Temporary Residence
Skilled Work Regional Visa 491 (Skilled Work Regional) is a temporary replacement skilled visa for visa 489 (effective from November 16, 2019). This visa allows skilled workers and their families to live, study and work in designated areas of Australia for five years. 491 visa applicants must be nominated by an Australian State/Territory Government or an eligible family member.
Visa 191 – skilled regional visa for permanent residence
Skilled Regional Visa 191 (Skilled Regional) is a permanent skilled visa for skilled workers who have been holding a temporary skilled visa 491 or 494 for at least 3 years.

Visa 124 – elite talent visa
Distinguished Talent visa 124 is a visa for individuals who are globally recognized for their outstanding achievement in a certain profession (sports, arts or academics and research). For this visa, you must be nominated by a senior Australian body or organization or by an individual with a national reputation in your field. These individuals must be Australian citizens/Australian permanent residents/New Zealand citizens.
Global Talent Visa – Independent Program (GTI)
Global Talent Visa - Independent Program GTI (Global Talent Visa - Independent Program) is a visa program launched by the Government on November 4, 2019. The applicant needs to have a nominator. Nominee must be an Australian permanent resident/ Australian citizen/ New Zealand citizen/ an Australian institution (University, employer, agency, etc.).

TSS 482 visa – unskilled visa
The TSS 482 (Temporary Skill Shortage visa) visa is a replacement for the 457 visa (repealed) as of March 18, 2018. This visa allows employers to address labor shortages by hiring skilled workers where they cannot find an Australian with the right skills.
The TSS 482 visa facilitates employment for foreign workers and helps temporary employers address the shortage of skilled workers. TSS 482 visa holders can work in Australia in their nominated occupation and can progress to permanent residency if eligible.
Visa 186 – skilled visa sponsored by businesses
The Employer Nomination Scheme visa 186 is a permanent skilled worker visa for workers sponsored by a business owner. This visa has 3 main categories:
• Transition from TSS 482 visa: for holders of TSS 482 visa.
• Direct Australian immigration stream: for workers with at least 3 years of work experience in the nominated occupation without having to go through a TSS 482 visa.
• Labor contract category: for employees who are nominated by the enterprise through a labor agreement.
Visa 494 – regional skilled visa designated by the business
The Skilled Employer Sponsored Visa 494 is a visa for qualified workers nominated by the business to work in a designated area. This visa was issued on November 16, 2019. After holding a 494 visa for 3 years, you can apply for a skilled permanent resident visa 191.
SOME TYPES OF VISAS THAT THE AUSTRALIAN DEPARTMENT OF IMMIGRATION DOES NOT ACCEPT NEW APPLICATIONS
• Visa 885 independent skilled stream (domestic).
• Visa 886 with guarantee (domestic).
• Visa 487 regional skilled with guarantee (domestic - temporary residence).
With the change of Australian immigration law in 2021, the 487 visa has stopped accepting new applications. Therefore, you can choose the new skilled subclass 491 visa to replace the 487 visa. Visa 491 is a temporary residence visa for skilled workers issued on November 16, 2019. This visa has a number of preferences in scoring, which are more beneficial to workers. AUSTRALIAN SKILLED MIGRATION VISA PROCESSING
Step 1: The applicant submits an application for a skills assessment and assessment with the Association of Skills Assessment (some associations require an IELTS score to be attached to the application).
Step 2: The applicant submits a letter of interest (SkillSelect) and applies for sponsorship from the Australian State/Territory Government (if applying for a 190/489 visa).
